Wines from 1966

La Mission Haut Brion was mesmerising the two times I've had it in the last few years, Talbot and Gruaud were also very respectable, and Haut Bailly is very much up there with the best. A very good year for claret and still some bargains to be had (especially to en primeur prices now!)

Fonseca 1966 is great, Ducru Beaucaillou a wine to look for, Gruaud Larose not bad, Chapelle Chambertin from Leroy a treat, Chambolle Musigny Les Amoureuses from Bouchard not far behind and Château Suduiraut or Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling feinste Auslese from J.J. Pruem a great way to end a meal before trying the Port . All drunk in the last 2 years.

I believe that Chris Hambleton may have access to a case of Cristal '66.... He flagged it in a Bid for Wine email on Friday - under the hammer on 22nd April (no connection (now) etc etc)
