TN Tuesday night titans

  1. 2013 Meneghetti White from 3l:
Orchard fruit, great structure, rounded and plush, strong acid backone (no malo?). Not familiar with this wine, but it's quite impressive tonight. The 2015 from 750ml was very different; floral, mineral, linear and much drier. Not as good as the large format 2013

    1993 Ducru Beaucaillou from 5l:
    Classic claret.
Some red and black fruit still, leather and cedar with great acid backbone. Very drinkable and fresh today, a little bit of green and grippy fine tannin, helping this along with the meal tonight. 750s from this vintage probably long gone, but I loved this.

  3. Ah, some context..
The Ducru was won by a very generous member of our wine group some time ago.
He decided that it would be a good time to share it, as it eats up quite a bit of premium HK cellar space.
Around 20 of us gathered last night to share those wines and there were several others, including quite a parade of vintage port, but I was in no condition to make notes on the multiple bottles passing around the tables.
