Icardi (Italy) Tre Uve Ultima 1997
This "Super Vino de Tavola" has a structured, serious black-cherry nose with notes of tobacco and herbs. On the palate it is chocolaty and dense, with big drying tannins and a chewy texture. It is full-bodied, with masses of lush fruit, yet earth, spice and balancing acidity add backbone. Quite long and very savoury, this would be ideal with lamb, venison or steak. Delicious, in a fairly firm and serious style. Oddbins 5.99.
