|Garden Valley (France) Chardonnay
VdP du Jardin de la France 1997
This is a lovely style of Chardonnay, very reminiscent of the fine southern Burgundies of Mâcon-Villages. It shares their very lightly-oaked sappy, honeysuckle aromas with notes of pear amd melon. On the palate it is fresh, with good acidity, a creamy mouthfeel and more of that white fruit character. A very nice example of its type, savoury and good both on its own or with food. Thresher, Victoria Wine £4.49 (07/99).
