Sainsbury's White Bordeaux (France) Non Vintage
Cheap, generic supermarket Bordeaux is often a safer bet for whites than reds. Whereas many £4 clarets are rather insipid
and washed-out efforts. This example comes from the well-known négociant Ginestet, and therefore the same
ownership as some respected Châteaux. It has a nose of lemon and peach, with a slightly grassy note. The palate
is balanced and
fresh with plenty of citrus fruit, but also a buttery softness in the mouth that makes it very drinkable on its own, or with
fish or maybe Chinese food. Exemplary cheap wine. Sainsbury £3.29 |
