Marques de Riscal (Spain) Limousin Reserva 1996
Aged in top-quality barrels of Limousin oak, the colour is
light gold and the nose is wonderful, with luscious aromas of
buttery brazil nuts, melon and honeysuckle, peach and some
cinnamon spice. On the palate it is quite full-bodied. The
fruit is predominantly apple and melon, but there's that
buttressing of creamy, buttery oak and a toasty wrapping of
nuts and herbal nuances. The finish shows surprisingly lively
lemony acidity that keeps it very sharp and focused despite
the richness here. Good length, quite Burgundian, with spice
and zippy fruit persisting. Lovely stuff. AmiVin £7.99
