Reserve Saint Clair, Puisseguin St Emilion 2006, France

Regular visitors to wine-pages.com will know that I can be pretty sceptical about so-called 'half-price' wines and BOGOF offers. This wine is supposedly reduced from £13.99 to £6.99 in Tesco. At £13.99 it would be hard to recommend, but at £6.99 it is a good buy with its classic cherry and blackcurrant nose given a savoury edge by cedary, older oak and a black olive twist, The palate has a bit of structure with tannins and acids keeping the finish savoury and quite chewy.
