Caliterra (Chile) Cabernet Sauvignon 1998
This is a cracking Cabernet at low cost from the Caliterra winery, which is a Chilean/US joint venture between the well-known
Errazuriz and Robert Mondavi. The wine has a gorgeous nose displaying lush plum aromas, creamy vanilla
and a terrific darkness of choclote and mint. On the palate it is smooth and medium to full bodied, with plenty of
plum and blackcurrant fruit. There is a nice framework of tannin and a low-acidity that give it enough savouriness, but
the driving force is ripe, creamy fruit. It finishes well, showing more of that bittersweet chocolate character and all-in-all presents
a very attractive package. Victoria Wine/Thresher/Wine Rack £4.49
