the wines

Séptima Noche Pinot Noir 2006
The nose has a slightly jammy character at first, with blackcurrant fruit and a little herbal quality. The palate displays a jammy, very sweet quality of black cherry jam fruit. There's a wrapping of sweet vanillin too, and some dry, grippy tannin and light acidity. Certainly a sweet, commercial style of Pinot, but easy and enjoyable in its way. 86/100

Séptima Dia Malbec 2005
Tight, quite expressive Malbec nose, with deep, glossy plum and cherry fruit. Plenty of dense, creamy fruit and buttery oak, in a very voluptuous picture. Expansive, generous black fruit, with low acidity and a silky tannic structure, where dense, sweet fruit powers through. 88/100

Séptima Reserva 2004
Nice cedar, black fruit and quite earthy, mineral nose. Very classical Bordeaux style, with touches of liquorice and a smoky background. Sweet, expansive, mouthfilling fruit, with plenty of spice and chocolate, and grippy plum skin fruit. Plenty of lively acidity and a nice sweet finish with sensuous, smoky depth. 89/100

Séptima Maria Codorniu Pinot Noir 2005
This traditional method sparkling wine has a beautifully strawberry scented, rose-hip and gentle herb aroma. The palate is soft and fruity too, with very nice, crisp cherry acidity. Finishes quite dry, with a racy, clean character offsetting the sweet-edged fruit. Very delicious, if simple wine. 87/100
