Huia Wines, Marlborough by Tom Cannavan, 04/08
white winesHuia Sauvignon Blanc 2007Deliciously aromatic and tropical, just a background of cut grass and juicy lemon. Powerful but poised and well balanced palate with real juiciness and verve. Lovely style. 89/100. £8.92 Huia Gewürztraminer 2007 Precise but quite gentle aromatics. Lychee and quite a lot of spice. Punchy, vibrant palate. Lots of sweeping grapefruit acidity with a dry, tangy finish. 88/100. £8.92 Huia Pinot Gris 2007 There's a certain creaminess and weight apparant here, with melon and pear fruit. Good balance, with plenty of acidity that is pithy and bone-dry, with a twist of citrus zest to the fruit. 89/100. £9.43 red winesHuia Pinot Noir 2006Gently beetrooty nose, with cranberry and soft red fruits. The palate has a richness and silkiness to the texture, and a big sweep of lemony acidity cuts in rather abruptly across the modest fruit. 87/100. £12.00 |
