For the past three years a unique event has been one of the highlights in the British wine calendar. Members of the wine-pages community descended on Glasgow for a day of tastings, seminars and a grand celebration dinner called superBOWL. Why "SuperBOWL"? Well, this non-profit celebration of fine wine is especially for British Online Wine Lovers.
     

SuperBOWL 2005 - Glasgow

And now it is happening all over again! SuperBOWL 2005 will welcome wine lovers for another weekend of celebration. This year's capacity is 100, and places are offered on a strictly first come first served basis.

The date for superBOWL is Saturday, October 29th 2005. The provisional programme is as follows:

13:30 - 17:30   walk-round tasting - rare and unusual wines
14:15 - 15:00   tutored tasting seminar 1 (with winemaker)
15:15 - 16:00   tutored tasting seminar 2
16:15 - 17:00   tutored tasting seminar 3 (with winemaker)
19:00 - 19:30   Champagne reception
19:30 - 11:00   fine wine dinner.

Tickets for superBOWL cost £55.00, to include:

  • Walk round tasting
  • Your choice of two tutored tastings/seminars
  • Champagne reception
  • Five-course dinner with fine wines provided

    But superBOWL is about more than that: it is a community event, where all of the wines for our afternoon walk-round are provided by the superBOWLers themselves, and a fascinating assortment of fine and rare wines always emerges to join the sponsored wines with dinner. There is a tremendous buzz about the superBOWL, with people travelling from every corner of the UK, as well as Europe, to attend, making it a real celebration of wine.

    As in previous years, a series of BYO dinners are being organised in some of Glasgow's best restaurants on the evening of Friday October 28th, preceding superBOWL itself. With venues to suit every budget, this has transformed superBOWL into a full weekend of wine activities with one of the friendliest bunches of wine lovers around.
