Château Fontenil, Fronsac 1993
This wine provides good drinking. The colour remains solid and deep, and there are aromas of blackcurrant and earth.
On the palate it is quite cedary and firm, perhaps just a little hard and ungiving. It certainly has structure, with
medium-body, rather firm tannins and decent fruit. For a wine dominated by Merlot it does seem to be a little
harsh and possibly over-extracted. (04/00)
