Fine Expressions - premium drinks magazine
by Tom Cannavan, 10/05

Fine Expressions is the new bi-monthly magazine with an in-depth focus on fine wine, but also covering the world of Scotch whisky, premium drinks, food and travel. Cover price is £3.95, and I am the magazine's Editor.

Issue three includes a focus on Bordeaux, including a beginners guide, best value recommendations, and an investigation into the slump in demand for "en primeurs". Plus there are in-depth articles on glassware innovations, the wines of Ben Glaetzer, wines with game and the International Wine and Spirit Competition Sparkling Wine awards for 2005. There are recommendations, opinion columns, wine news and reviews.

We also look at Belgian beers with a guide to styles and recommended brews, plus a profile of the Trappist brothes of Chimay. We look at matching Saké to the flavours of Umami, and recommend three of our favourite restaurants with rooms, where bed is only a footstep away. We investigate the world of ultra-premium vodkas, and whisky features in issue three include articles on Bruichladdich, Bladnoch and the miracle of maturation. There are fascinating articles on taking a malt whisky tasting extravaganza to the Glastonbury music festival, and an investigation into the quality of supermarket malts.

The magazine is published six times per year, and subscribers enjoy seven issues for the price of six, plus free UK delivery.

During October there is a very special incentive: subscribe before October 30th and you will be entered into a prize draw: one subscriber will win two tickets to the International Wine and Spirits Competition Awards Banquet in London's Guildhall. You and your guest will enjoy a five-course dinner accompanied by award-winning wines and spirits. National and international trophies will be awarded during the banquet to a who's who of the wine and spirit world. Each ticket is worth £164.50, so the prize is worth £329. You can read more about the Banquet here.
